Osman’s Blog charting the history and progress with his MGB GT
I first got into MG’s with an old MG YB covered up under a tarpaurlin in my parents back garden. The story was my father purchased the car from my mum’s uncle for the price of a set of 4 new tyres. Due to finances the car was stored sadly under the tarp.
In 2005 I purchased my 3rd YB which was a runner UMG 841 and I personally stripped her back to bare metal and had her resprayed in 2006/7 in Braishfield.
In 2012 I then travelled to Holland where I purchased MG YT FSL 212 to add a tourer to my collection.
I’ve been to many events in my Y Types notably Sommertreff in Germany twice, UK MG Car club Y register Spring Run’s, Winchester MG Owners Club club night run’s and cob web spins. I’m also the UK Representative of the International MG Y Type Register, and often follow up leads on Y types for the register.
I’m slowly learning to do more jobs on my car’s and am booked on a Classic Car Mechanics course run by Bicester College, held at Bicester Heritage.
Other interests beside the car’s are family, Southampton FC season ticket holder, and trips to Spain, whereby one day I hope to take the Y type!
